AICHI - Princess Aiko, the only daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, arrived in Mie Prefecture on August 1 to attend a traditional event connected with the periodic rebuilding of Ise Jingu.

The princess arrived at Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station shortly after 3 p.m., where she was welcomed by the governor of Mie Prefecture and other officials.
A large crowd gathered outside the station despite the intense heat, and Princess Aiko smiled and waved to those waiting to greet her.
The princess has had an interest in the Shikinen Sengu, the rebuilding of Ise Jingu conducted once every 20 years, since elementary school. As a member of her school's broadcasting committee, she once wrote and delivered a report about the tradition.
During her visit, Princess Aiko viewed timber that will be used in the Shikinen Sengu and received an explanation of the technique of marking the wood with ink before cutting pillars and other structural components. She asked questions including, "Is it difficult to write with ink?"
She also held a bundle of Japanese pampas grass used to thatch shrine roofs and remarked, "It is quite light."
Princess Aiko is scheduled to observe the Onkihiki traditional timber-pulling event associated with the Shikinen Sengu on August 2.

Bentley Motors has marked 80 years of craftsmanship in Crewe with a spectacular gathering of more than 100 customer Bentleys spanning the brand’s history. Joined by the Bentley Drivers Club celebrating its 90th anniversary, the event also unveiled a unique Continental GTC in bespoke Purple Supernova Ombre, created to honour the exceptional artisanship of Bentley’s Dream Factory.
 
For 80 years, Bentley Motors' headquarters in Crewe has been home to the marque's unique blend of craftsmanship, innovation and extraordinary attention to detail. Since the first Bentley rolled from the Pyms Lane production line in 1946, generations of skilled colleagues have handcrafted the world's most sought-after luxury cars, combining techniques passed down through decades with the latest advances in engineering and manufacturing.
Marking this milestone, 107 Bentleys owned by members of the Bentley Drivers Club returned to the Home of Bentley, lining Pyms Lane in chronological order of production. Beginning with EXP3, the first Bentley ever delivered to a customer, and culminating with a 2025 Flying Spur Speed, the remarkable display represented every significant era in the marque’s history – from the W.O Bentley cars and the Derby years through to the modern Crewe-built range, with everything from iconic Blowers to today’s Bentayga featured in the line-up.         

Owners travelled across the world to reunite their cars with the place where generations of Bentley motor cars have been handcrafted, celebrating more than a century of Bentley heritage alongside 80 years of craftsmanship in Crewe. Athens, GREECE — ​The distinguished institution Who Is Who International Academy Awards celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday, Wednesday 1 July 2026, on the Athens Riviera, with an awards ceremony honouring 28 personalities from Greece and abroad for their work, contribution and international impact.
Among them, a special tribute was paid in memory of Mimis Plessas, whose award was received by his wife, Mrs Loukila Plessas.

Honourees included, among others, composer Giorgos Hatzinasios, presented by Dame Chrysanthi Lemos — honoured by Queen Elizabeth of England, Vice President of the Filarmonia London of King Charles of

As part of the event, the founder and president of Who Is Who International Academy Awards, Dimitris Goris, presented honorary distinctions to personalities from the fields of science, entrepreneurship, shipping, law, health and culture, highlighting the international footprint of the institution twenty years after its founding.
The evening featureds musical programme with soprano Elena Kelesidi, tenor Giorgos Ntavlas, Anastasia Zanni and Ioannis Livanos, while the ceremony was hosted by journalist Zoe Psarra.

The ceremony closed with a group photograph of all honourees and a musical finale.

Beyond the glittering awards ceremony, the evening also carried a substantial philanthropic purpose: proceeds
from the event support social and educational work of the Academy through the Life Reset Academy, offering free experiential seminars for young people, school-based programmes and support for vulnerable social groups. The flagship initiative is The 28 Scholarship, an annual scholarship for young people who lack the financial means to pursue their dreams, based on the Method of Luminous Images developed by Savvas Sideris, who spoke at the event about his method.

Monaco, June 26 and 27, 2026 - F.P.Journe was a partner of the Riva Trophy, whose 16th edition took place on the Côte d’Azur. Organised every two years, the event brought together twenty-two crews from twelve countries, from Europe to Dubai and as far as Brazil, for a regularity race linking the port of Monaco to Pampelonne beach. F.P.Journe has been supporting the event for ten years, in keeping with the longstanding friendship between François-Paul Journe and Madame Lia Riva, daughter of Carlo Riva. The Manufacture shares with Riva the same appreciation for tradition and exceptional craftsmanship.


The first day opened in the Riva Tunnel, the one-hundred-metre gallery carved beneath the Rock of Monaco in 1959, when Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly agreed to allow Riva to establish its commercial base in Monaco. More than two hundred boats could once be housed there; it is still home to the famous mahogany runabouts that built Riva’s reputation. Following the briefing, the flotilla, from the Super Ariston to the 88' Folgore, set off for Saint-Tropez, reaching it after around an hour and a half at sea. It returned the following day after the concours d’élégance, the highlight of these two days. The F.P.Journe Boutique in Paris invited some collectors to sail aboard a Riva 82 Diva in its colours.


The trophy also came to life on shore. On the first evening, in Saint-Tropez, guests paid tribute to Brigitte Bardot and the 1960s, the era when the Aquarama became the emblem of a Mediterranean art de vivre. On the second evening, in Monaco, the Yacht Club hosted the prize-giving ceremony on the “Love Boat” theme, in blue and white: the winning couple received from François-Paul Journe two watches from the élégante collection in Titalyt®, a 40 mm and a 48 mm, fitted with turquoise straps, the emblematic colour of the Italian brand, and engraved “Riva 2026”.

Born in 1986 in Cesena, Italy, Emanuele Pollini began his culinary training at the Istituto Alberghiero Pellegrino Artusi in Forlimpopoli, before gaining experience across the Adriatic coast under acclaimed chef Vincenzo Cammerucci. During these formative years, he worked in renowned restaurants including Lido Lido, Terre Alte, La Buca and Frantoio Turchi. He later joined some of the world’s most celebrated kitchens, including Martin Berasategui in Spain and Maaemo in Norway, both awarded three Michelin stars, as well as Clooney in New Zealand, holder of the country’s highest three-hat distinction. In 2020, Emanuele was named Best Italian Chef by Gambero Rosso.

Since 2013, Emanuele has worked closely with Carlo Cracco, first at Cracco’s Michelin-starred restaurant in Milan, and later as Executive Chef of Carlo e Camilla in Segheria in Milan. He later led the opening of OVO by Carlo Cracco in Moscow as Executive Chef, overseeing its culinary direction and development. At the end of 2020, Emanuele launched VADVARE, a gastronomic laboratory that quickly achieved national recognition.

Geneva, Switzerland  – Israel continues to commit genocide and other atrocity crimes by deliberately targeting Palestinian children

Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip and war crimes in the West Bank, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel said in a new report today.
The Commission, which concluded last year that Israel had committed genocide against the Palestinian group in the Gaza Strip, found that the intense scale and systematic nature of the Israeli military operations have continued – resulting in unprecedented death, injury and trauma of Palestinian children.
The Commission reiterates that the deliberate targeting of children is one of the key elements establishing genocidal intent of the Israeli authorities and security forces to destroy the Palestinian group, in whole or in part, in Gaza.
“The evidence shows that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by the Israeli security forces,” said Srinivasan Muralidhar, Chair of the Commission. “Even after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, with continued disregard by Israel for the ceasefire and for the protection owed to Palestinian children under international law.”
Severe physical and mental injuries, mass trauma, orphanhood, separation, disability, repeated displacements, starvation, and the collapse of education and healthcare have erased childhood and will continue to affect children in Gaza throughout their lives.
Palestinian children have been arrested and subjected to torture and other severe forms of mistreatment in Israeli prisons and detention facilities, with no information on their whereabouts. Israeli security forces have also used sexual violence against children as part of the collective shaming and oppression, entrenched within a prolonged, ethnic, gendered, and intergenerational pattern of Israeli occupation and hostilities.
Israel’s targeting of neonatal and maternity care centers in Gaza have directly harmed the survival of newborns and Palestinians’ reproductive future, including rises in miscarriages, birth defects and lasting vulnerabilities among newborns, resulting in the destruction of Palestinian newborn life and the population’s continuity. Starvation imposed by Israel through blockade and siege have further caused the death of Palestinian children and severely impacted the health of many others, depriving them of essential nutrition and increasing disease risks amid reduced immunization, food insecurity and destroyed health services.
In parallel, the dismantling and destruction of orphanages and education facilities in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have obstructed children’s cognitive, social and emotional care and development and disrupted the foundations of Palestinian society.
“Even if the bombs and guns fall silent in Gaza and West Bank, Palestinian children will not simply recover overnight,” said Muralidhar. “The destruction of their health, education and development is irreversible.”
Palestinian children have suffered immense psychological harm, having been stripped of any sense of safety and future. Mental harm is an intergenerational condition, producing a distinctive “occupied psyche” in which the freedom to play, imagine, hope, and develop an identity has been eroded.
By targeting children, Israel is eroding the foundational structure of Palestinian society, weakening the demographic vitality, and overall capacity of the Palestinian people to sustain and exercise its right to determine its future as a people.
“The protection, care and survival of Palestinian children are inseparable from the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination,” said Muralidhar. “By targeting children, Israel is attacking the very capacity of the Palestinian people to exist and to determine their future.”
The Commission calls for Israel to cease committing violations and crimes against and affecting Palestinian children. The Commission further calls for the end of Israel’s continuing presence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in compliance with the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The Commission has identified military units within the Israeli security forces responsible for killing and injuring of Palestinian children and makes recommendations to Israel and to all Member States to ensure accountability for such crimes.
The international community as a whole must uphold their international legal obligations and call for an end to the hostilities, for Israel to end its occupation and to prioritize accountability and access to justice for victims as an integral component of any political process, grounded in the meaningful participation of Palestinians, including children.

Background: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel was established by the UN Human Rights Council on 27 May 2021 to “investigate, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel, all alleged violations of international humanitarian law and all alleged violations and abuses of international human rights law leading up to and since 13 April 2021.” Resolution A/HRC/RES/S-30/1 further requested the commission of inquiry to “investigate all underlying root causes of recurrent tensions, instability and protraction of conflict, including systematic discrimination and repression based on national, ethnic, racial or religious identity.”
