She’s Back in a Saree! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Brings the Saree Back to Cannes After Years

At the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the undisputed icon of the Cannes red carpet, the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, makes a striking return in a visual statement that honours Indian handloom- a meditation in ivory, rose gold, and silver: a handwoven Kadwa ivory Banarasi handloom saree from Manish Malhotra.

The Kadwa brocade technique stands as a true testament to the unmatched skill of Indian weavers. Originating from the famed looms of Varanasi, this intricate method involves crafting each motif separately, often using multiple shuttles and supplementary threads. The saree features handwoven brocade motifs and hand-embroidered zari detailing in real chandi (silver), further extending the sanctity of the fabric. Draped alongside is a sheer white tissue handwoven dupatta, edged with real gold and silver zardozi embroidery. The ensemble marks a deliberate departure from conventional red-carpet codes, reintroducing the saree not as nostalgia, but as contemporary couture. A bold assertion from the brand, rewriting what Indian ceremonial dress can signify on the global stage.

Paired with heirloom
Manish Malhotra high jewellery featuring, over 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds in 18k gold and the rennaissance of ruby statement rings this look foregrounds textile as language, and craftsmanship as power.

On the storied steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, under the gaze of the global fashion world, Manish Malhotra couture looks testify why he is widely regarded as the torchbearer of Indian couture (and the man himself also made a quiet yet resonant debut at the 2025 Met Gala).
This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” paid tribute to the cultural evolution of Black Dandyism- a narrative shaped by defiance, dignity, and aesthetic power. In response, Malhotra offered a creations that adorned several best dresses red carpet icons like the Empress of Indian Fashion herself, stunning Natasha Poonawalla. Her persona reigns supreme at The Met Gala 2025 in a custom Manish Malhotra Ensemble, draped in an exquisite fusion of armor, artistry, and ancestry. A vision of dandyism woven with the heritage and legacy of Indian Gara embroidery.

Picture
Her interpretation of the 2005 year theme, reframed through the language of Indian couture, honors her Parsi ancestry while affirming her place as a modern-day cultural force.
At the core: a sculpted fishtail skirt reengineered from two vintage Gara saris, one a century-old relic from Manish Malhotra’s archives recreated, its surface an exquisite tapestry of hand-embroidered silken threads echoing generations of craftsmanship. Anchoring the look is a corset-cummerbund paired with a vintage French lace bralette edged in scalloped pearls capturing the essence of dandyism, where restraint meets regality in meticulously tailored form. Draped above it all: a sharply tailored black Gara jacket with bold shoulders, lined in imperial purple, a hue long associated with power, mysticism, and nobility, and embroidered in the sacred ektaar technique, where one continuous thread carries an unbroken narrative.

At the collar, a sculptural lace cravat by Atelier Biser delivers the final note of theatricality. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania this is couture with conviction.

Long regarded as one of India’s most influential designers, Malhotra approached even personal Met Gala debut not as a spectacle, but as a continuation of a deeply rooted creative path- one shaped by instinct, memory, and an enduring reverence for textile traditions. His ensemble, a sculptural sherwani layered with a sharply tailored blazer and a floor-sweeping cape, drew inspiration from the 19th-century Inverness Dandy-
a figure emblematic of both refinement and rebellion, manishmalhotra.in.

Tennis legend Venus Williams and actor, producer, and model Andrea Preti first met in 2024 during Milan Fashion Week—at the Gucci show, Venus remembers tells Vogue, “I was in Lake Como on a sisters’ trip when I got an invite at the last minute and decided to go on a whim, ...‘

It was an intense period, just 10 days later, she was diagnosed with adenomyoma. Six months after that, they got engaged on January 31, 2025, in Tuscany, after Andrea proposed. Their first wedding was on September 18 in Ischia, Italy. She told Vogue, “We had this dream to do our wedding in Italy,” Venus explains. “But we didn’t have enough time to do the paperwork—because I’m a foreigner, it can take about eight months. So we decided to have a second wedding.”

This second wedding, held in Palm Beach this weekend before Christmas, was planned by Jennifer Zabinski of JZ Events, who also organized her sister Serena’s 2017 wedding, the week of events started a full six days before the ceremony and featured a jam-packed itinerary—along with lots of windy weather. “They always say weddings go so fast, and they do,” Venus says. “We started on Monday. Serena gave us this gift of a beautiful yacht, and she arranged all the food, everything. We had 10 to 12 of our closest family and friends who were in town on the boat, and we were singing, dancing, gossiping, and just enjoying each other.”

Piet and KidSuper launch an unprecedented collaboration focused on craftsmanship
Picture
Available December 20th. The first partnership between the brands introduces innovative crochet techniques, 3D knitting, illustrations, and football references, with a campaign starring Zé Roberto.

Piet, a brand founded by Pedro Andrade, presents its first collaboration with KidSuper, the label founded by artist and designer Colm Dillane, in a partnership that embodies friendship and creative trust. The collab stems from a long-standing relationship between Pedro and Colm, built long before any official partnership existed.

The collection begins from the concept of craftsmanship, understood as the integration of manual work, technical development, and textile innovation. KidSuper contributes its artistic language, known for hand-painted illustrations, faces, and camouflage patterns. Piet applies its proprietary techniques such as manual crochet, 3D knit, embroidered constructions, and textile experimentation marked by precision.

The development of the collection occurred continuously and in a decentralized manner. Colm shared artworks and visual references, while Piet’s team conducted material tests, piece construction, and technical solutions. Decisions were made remotely, fluidly, and intuitively. The level of trust was so great that Colm saw the finished garments only one day before the runway show in Paris, where the collection was first presented in January of this year.
The result reflects the convergence between the two brands. KidSuper artworks are incorporated into the garments using Piet-developed processes that imprint the brand’s identity on finishing, pattern making, and textile construction.

Schiaparelli partners with mandarin oriental for Christmas

A Celestial Christmas Tree at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai by Maison Schiaparelli

Hong Kong, 5 December 2025 – Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, proudly marks the opening of its festive season with the unveiling of a bespoke couture Christmas tree created by Daniel Roseberry for Maison Schiaparelli. This creation pays homage to one of the most intimate threads woven through Schiaparelli's history: the stars. From a young age, Elsa Schiaparelli was introduced to astronomy by her uncle, the famed astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli, who would let her gaze through his telescope into the infinite cosmos. This early fascination with celestial bodies later shaped her iconic Zodiac collection (Fall/Winter 1938–39), filled with cosmic symbols, constellations, and references to the solar system.

At Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, Daniel Roseberry interprets this celestial heritage with a tree made of 960 golden metal rods radiating from the centre, recalling the solar rays of the Apollo of Versailles cape, an emblem first imagined by Elsa Schiaparelli for her Zodiac collection and reinterpreted by Roseberry in Haute Couture FW25–26. The rods appear in three finishes: full glitter, mirror-polished gold, and perforated reflective metal that softly filters the light, like a modern constellation.

Beating from within the tree is a monumental red heart inspired by Daniel Roseberry's Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2025–26 collection. Sculptural and visceral, the heart is built on a 3D‑printed structure and powered by a mechanical system that beats at 60 pulses per minute, echoing a real human rhythm. Adorned with 1,458 red Swarovski crystals, it marries traditional savoir‑faire with modern technology.

Maison Schiaparelli is in residence at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai throughout the year, while offering exclusive experiences this festive season, including access to the Middle East's only Schiaparelli Suite.

Ingenieux at dubai watch week

Ingenieux a high-horology brand Ingenieux Unveils Two Signature Timepieces at Dubai
Watch Week

By Nataliia B.

Dubai Watch Week 2025 once again proved to be a stage for bold ideas and boundary-pushing craftsmanship — and among the most talked-about presentations was the dual showcase by Ingenieux, the young but already influential watchmaking house founded by Italian designer Marco Mavilla.

On 22 November, collectors and horology enthusiasts gathered at Maison Luxe in Dubai Mall, where the brand revealed the Fittipaldi and StarMoon Goldberger, two limited-edition creations that encapsulate the duality at the heart of Ingenieux: the adrenaline of speed and the poetry of classic watchmaking.

A Golden Ode to Racing Legend Emerson Fittipaldi
The first highlight of the evening was the Ingenieux Fittipaldi, a 37 mm chronograph in 18-carat yellow gold, created as a tribute to Emerson Fittipaldi and his historic 1972 Formula 1 victory. With its tropical black dial, enamel tachymeter bezel, and a rare vintage Valjoux 726 movement sourced from the 1970s, the piece transported attendees straight into the golden age of motorsport. Total of 72 watches will be produced. Pre-orders are available, with a waiting time of 6 weeks. Each piece will be individually numbered from 00 to 72, and gravure signed by Emerson Fittipaldi. Every piece a symbolic nod to the year of the iconic Lotus triumph. Fittipaldi himself attended the unveiling, telling guests that the watch “brought the colors of
victory back to life.”

StarMoon Goldberger: A Haute Horlogerie Masterpiece

The second major debut was the StarMoon Goldberger, a richly detailed 18-carat gold timepiece dedicated to Auro Montanari--known to the watch world as John Goldberger--celebrated collector, historian, author and patron of traditional craftsmanship. The 37 mm creation features a gilt dial and gold bracelet, powered by the legendary calibre Valjoux 88 , with chronograph, complete calendar, and moon phase. With production capped at 88 pieces, the StarMoon was praised by attendees for its harmony of classical elegance and contemporary refinement.

Marco Mavilla’s New Era

For Marco Mavilla, the dual launch marked another defining moment in his creative evolution. After reshaping the global fashion-watch landscape with ToyWatch in the 2000s, the designer has now turned fully toward high horology with Ingenieux.
The Dubai Watch Week presentation demonstrated the company’s ambition: to fuse Italian emotional design with Swiss technical excellence—creating mechanical artworks that tell stories.

Hepta: the Signature Model of Ingenieux

The Hepta model stands at the heart of the Ingenieux Watches collection—a stainless-steel timepiece defined by a clean, contemporary aesthetic and conceived as the brand’s essential, signature product.
Designed in Milan and powered by the Swiss Sellita SW300 movement, Hepta combines Italian creativity with the precision of Swiss-made watchmaking. Made with two different straps and a range of dials, it adapts effortlessly to different styles while maintaining a refined, minimalist identity.
The collection also features exclusive natural stone dials, each one unique in its pattern and character: Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Meteorite, and other precious variations that make every Hepta a one-of-a-kind piece. Available at different Italian retail watch shops and Maison Luxe (UAE).

Maison Luxe: The Ideal Stage

Maison Luxe, long regarded as one of Dubai’s leading addresses for independent watchmaking, offered a fitting backdrop for the unveiling. Its intimate, curatorial atmosphere allowed collectors to engage closely with both pieces while celebrating the arrival of a promising new player in contemporary horology.
Both timepieces left Dubai as two of the standout releases of the event—proof that Ingenieux is quickly becoming a maison to watch.
