Celebrities wearing CHANEL at The 97th Annual Academy Awards

Before the world could enjoy the big Oscars night, Charles Finch and CHANEL hosted their 16th annual Pre-Oscar Awards dinner in Beverly Hills on March 1st, 2025, the day before. During all these years, it has been a night for nominees, actors, directors, producers, writers, musicians, and Hollywood influencers to gather for an intimate dinner at the iconic Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The next day, on the big night of the 97th Annual Academy Awards on March 2, several celebrities once more seized the chance to dazzle in high-end jewelry and Chanel couture ensembles.

Actress QUALLEY wore a custom black silk velvet long dress with a train and an open back inspired by look 90 from the CHANEL Spring-Summer Ready-to Wear 2005 collection and CHANEL shoes. 153 hours of work were required in the making of this dress adorned with CHANEL High Jewelry: “Motif Russe” necklace in 18K white gold, diamonds “Étoile Filante” bracelet in white gold and diamonds “Impression Florale” earrings in 18 K white gold with diamonds “Pluie de Comètes” ring in 18K white gold and diamonds “Ruban” ring in 18K white gold and diamonds. All starts had also CHANEL Makeup.

​Margaret QUALLEY, CHANEL Ambassador and one of the lead actresses in the movie “The Substance” nominated for Best Picture, and winner in the Makeup and Hairstyling category at the awards ceremony, accepted by Pierre-Olivier Persin, Stéphanie Guillon and Marilyne Scarselli.

Fernanda TORRES, Brazilian actress nominated for the Best Actress Award for her role in the movie “I’m Still Here”, the movie that won in the International Feature Film category for Brazil.
Torres wore a Long dress in black mesh and guipure with a black silk chiffon skirt adorned with ruffles embroidered with feathers and a black mesh and embellished with jeweled buttons, and a guipure jacket ennobled with sequins, look 42, from the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2025 collection and CHANEL shoes.
​Information on the dress, 450 hours of work and around 2000 embroidery elements were required in the making of this dress. Torres also wore CHANEL High Jewelry, “Jeanne” ring in 18K white gold and diamonds “Premiers Brins” earrings in 18K white gold.

Lupita NYONG’O, CHANEL Ambassador and lead actress in the movie “Wild Robot” nominated for Best Animated Feature, wore a custom long and pleated ivory charmeuse dress with a resille bustier embroidered with silver crystal buggle beads and embellished with pearls and silver crystal braids, pearls straps, pearls cabochons, pearls tassels, and an ivory satin belt, inspired by look 74 from the CHANEL Haute Couture Spring-Summer 1991 and white CHANEL shoes.
Lupita was one of the presenters for the award that evening. Her dress required 660 hours of work and 22 410 embroidery elements were required in the making of this dress. Lily-Rose DEPP, CHANEL ambassador, wore a custom black floral lace halter dress with a peplum embroidered with black sequins, crystals and pearls representing a camelia motif, inspired by look 74 from the CHANEL Haute Couture Spring-Summer 1995 collection. CHANEL shoes. I

Penélope CRUZ, CHANEL Ambassador, wore a custom white silk chiffon dress entirely drapped and embellished with jeweled buttons inspired by look 72 from the CHANEL Haute Couture Spring-Summer 1992 collection with CHANEL shoes. 254 hours of work were required in the making of this dress. CHANEL High Jewelry included “Soleil” earrings in white gold, yellow diamonds and diamonds “Comète Aubazine” brooch in 18K white gold and diamonds (Brooch worn in hair) “Soleil 19 Aout” ring in 18K yellow gold, platinum, diamonds, 1 round-cut yellow diamond 5.52 cts “Soleil 19 Aout” transformable brooch in 18K white gold, 18K yellow gold.

Margaret QUALLEY, CHANEL Ambassador, wore a custom red satin dress embellished with an trompe-l-oeil brooch embroidered with gold and gold and rubies red crystals and jeweled buttons on the back, inspired by look 142 from the CHANEL Spring-Sumer 1989 Ready-to-Wear collection. Margaret Qualley (above) pays tribute to 60 years of James Bond movies by performing a dance number to the franchise's theme song at the 97th Academy Awards, which aired on ABC and streams on Hulu. The actress' tribute was introduced by Halle Berry, who was a Bond Girl in 'Die Another Day.'
