Press notes with “We don’t simply fall in love, we become it,” a statement where Mishra pays ho,,age to love with vibrant and light collection following his past rather very dark and architectural haute couture collection. This time Rahul Mishra introduces Stephen Jones’ brilliance and exquisite craftsmanship of couture headwear, "His veils and headpieces became a quiet, powerful dialogue with our garments—transforming the runway into a moving dreamscape," he adds. Mishra uses most delicate fabrics and craftmanship to convey a feeling or an emotion of love. With great attention his vision of this feeling becomes visualised in a breathtaking moment as each passage represents in this collection—light like the air one feels that dresses are so well shaped to fit the body of modles, that they appear to represent the feeling and inhale, soak in, and exhale it as they walk the runway. The feeling and dress merge on an ontological level as enveloped by its invisible force. The collection emphasises sufism and articulates the evolution of love through seven stages: attraction, infatuation, surrender, reverence, devotion, obsession, and finally, death. This season, the Maison explores this transformative passage of becoming love. Traversing these seven stages, we gather hue and form along the way, moving ultimately toward a profound stillness, where not even light intrudes. The new collection glides through silhouettes, each a verse in this unfolding story of emotion and expression. A section draws inspiration from the artistic language of Gustav Klimt, translated into Rahul Mishra’s world through surfaces crafted in village ateliers across India. Here, ancient techniques of aari threadwork, zardozi, naqshi, dabka, and fareesha embroidery are reimagined in a contemporary light. Alongside resham threads, embellishments include beads, freshwater pearls, kundan, salli, and sequins, all woven onto silk organza, tulle, velvet, and satin fabrics. Sculptural pieces hold their form through inset structures, meticulously fabricated at the Rahul Mishra atelier using metal craft techniques honed by local artisans. In many ways, this collection stands as a testament to the nearly 2,000 fashion workers who help bring a designer’s vision to life, by not only sustaining meaningful livelihoods but also help slow the consumption of natural resources.
