Starry Sky
“I feel a deep sense of responsibility when working with diamonds and pearls. I’ve always seen diamonds as stars, and it’s exactly how I feel when I work with them — like I’m shaping a star. I have spent so many hours looking at the night sky, it felt right to create a collection around it.” – Sophie Bille Brahe, Founder and Creative Director. The Starry Sky collection is a dive into the firmament. The point in the horizon where the sea and the sky meet has been an everlasting source of inspiration for Sophie Bille Brahe. For this collection, the designer takes a step further up and connects the stars like dots. Starry Sky was drawn directly on the space between the stars. An emptiness full of stories. With the Starry Sky collection, Bille Brahe works with oval-shaped diamonds for the first time. The interplay between round-cuts and oval diamonds appears like a reminder that each star is unique and carries its own story. The Starry pair of earrings is the center piece of the collection. With a total of 3.54ct, the style is crafted with two 0.50ct oval diamonds, two 0.50ct pear shaped diamonds and two 0.30ct round diamonds dangling on the ear, catching all the light around. Alongside the diamonds, the pearls feature a strong association with the moon. Bille Brahe imagines the styles as its different phases, resulting in a variation of sizes and a new approach to the iconic graduation. Between the Full Moon and the Rising Moon pairs of earrings, the collection completes a tour accross the Milkyway, coming back to earth only to tell the stories of the beyond. For this collection, Bille Brahe reworks the tennis necklace with the Collier de Sky. The designer introduces a new way of putting the diamonds at the center of the piece by spacing them like connecting stars. The Bracelet de Sky features the same setting with an oval diamond of 0.50ct as the center stone. With these pieces, Bille Brahe creates a design that evokes the beauty of a starry sky.
