Mayrig Bistrot Geneva: Where Armenian Memory Meets Genevan Restraint

2/15/2026

Picture

Tucked into the quietly bohemian streets of Carouge, Mayrig Bistrot feels less like a restaurant and more like an invitation into someone’s home, the kind where time slows, stories are passed across the table, and food is treated with reverence rather than spectacle. From the moment the scents of Aleppo pepper, sumac, warm bread and tangy yoghurt drift through the room, one senses that this is a place where cuisine is not just cooked, but remembered.

This is the first European outpost, and the first “bistrot” interpretation, of Mayrig, the much-loved Armenian restaurant founded by Aline Kamakian, whose culinary mission has always been rooted in transmission. “Mayrig” means mother in Armenian, and the spirit of maternal generosity is felt everywhere here: in the unfussy warmth of the welcome, in the comforting depth of the flavours, and in the sense that every dish carries a lineage.
Picture

Recognised by Gault&Millau 2026 with 13 points for its refined, contemporary vision of Armenian cuisine, the bistrot strikes a delicate balance between heritage and modernity. The menu is intentionally concise, seasonal, and deeply expressive. Signature mante, crisp little beef or spinach dumplings, arrive bathed in cool yoghurt and dusted with sumac. Lamb tika, marinated in Armenian spices, is tender and soulful, while roasted cauliflower with tahini and orange sauce delivers a quietly surprising brightness. Even the lahmajoun, often treated casually elsewhere, feels elevated here: thin, fragrant, and impossibly moreish.

What sets Mayrig Bistrot apart, however, is not only what’s on the plate, but where it comes from. Ingredients are sourced directly from Armenian villages such as Anjar, through close collaborations with local families and women producers supported by the Kamakian Initiative.
Aleppo pepper paste is sun-dried naturally, cherries used in traditional dishes like Fishna Keufteh come from specific local varieties, and nothing feels industrial or anonymous. It’s a farm-to-table ethos with emotional depth, provenance as preservation.

The wine list mirrors this cultural dialogue, pairing Armenian indigenous grapes like Areni and Voskehat with thoughtful Swiss, French and Italian selections chosen for harmony rather than hierarchy. Desserts, meanwhile, close the meal softly: Sultani anoush, a milk pudding delicately scented with mastic and orange blossom, tastes like the culinary equivalent of a lullaby.
The décor echoes the same philosophy. Handcrafted ceramics, artworks inspired by Armenian landscapes, and lighting made in Lebanon give the space a tactile, soulful elegance. A recurring bird motif, drawn from ancient Armenian calligraphic traditions, subtly reinforces the idea of transmission, flight, and continuity.

Despite international bans and brand scrutiny, cotton from Xinjiang remains a staple in textile production, states Modaes... ln 2020 the United Nations (UN) urged fashion to review its value chain and most recently in the wake of the Xinjiang scandal in early 2026, international organizations, governments and specialized analysts agree that the risk of forced labor is still present in global textile supply chains...

 Ferrari introduces the interior and interface of the new Ferrari Luce, with every element deeply considered to enable functional, intuitive interactions and a thrilling driver experience.
 Hosted in San Francisco, Ferrari shared key interface components combining precision-engineered mechanical buttons, dials, toggles and switches with multifunctional digital displays.
 The name (meaning ‘light’ or ‘illumination’ in Italian) signifies the brand’s unwavering focus on the future and new naming strategy for an important addition to the Ferrari range.
 LoveFrom, a creative collective founded by designers Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson in San Francisco, has beencollaborating with Ferrari on every dimension of the Ferrari Luce design.
 In October 2025, the technology underpinning the car was unveiled in Ferrari’s e-building in Maranello. The third and final phase, including the exterior reveal, of the launch will be hosted in Italy in May 2026.

Maranello, 9 February 2026 – Ferrari unveiled today the interior design and announced the name of its visionary new full-electric sports car: Ferrari Luce, the start of a new chapter in Ferrari’s history.
‘Luce’ is more than a name. It is a vision. When Ferrari speaks of Luce, it is not defining a technology, but a philosophy: electrification as a means, not an end – a new era where design, engineering and imagination converge into something that did not exist before.
Simple, pure and evocative, Luce becomes a symbol of clarity and inspiration, expressing Ferrari’s approach to innovation: uncompromising vision, transparent design, silent energy that is felt in every fibre, and form shaped by function.

This new naming strategy reflects how the Ferrari Luce marks a significant addition to the Prancing Horse’s line-up, embodying the seamless expression of tradition and innovation. With its cutting-edge technology, unique design and best-in-class driving thrills, it unites Ferrari’s racing heritage, the timeless spirit of its sports cars, and the evolving reality of contemporary lifestyles. It testifies to Ferrari’s determination to go beyond expectations: to imagine the future, and to dare. Because leading means illuminating the path ahead – and Luce embodies that mindset.
The launch was hosted in San Francisco by Ferrari and LoveFrom, the creative collective founded by Sir Jony Ive with fellow designer Marc Newson, which has been collaborating with Ferrari for five years on every dimension of the new car’s design. A global centre for technology and design, San Francisco has long been home to the world’s most innovative user experience and interface design.
Ferrari’s decision to conceive this car with LoveFrom is a deliberate expression of the marque’s vision for the future: a car that honours Ferrari’s legendary heritage.
This holistic approach is driven by extraordinary care and purposefully shaped by some of the most influential minds in technology design.
Every component has been designed and engineered with the same attention and precision, quietly and purposefully functional. Everything
integrates seamlessly, forming a unified aesthetic and functional whole that preserves and intensifies the emotional thrill of driving a Ferrari.

Production processes were also carefully considered, with sophisticated manufacturing technologies applied to ensure that every material
is presented in its most noble form. This gives both a modern and timeless feel, with materials that are not just luxurious, but genuinely
authentic – demonstrating Ferrari’s dedication to quality, innovation, and the enduring value of craftsmanship.
Materials were chosen for their durability and integrity. The designers embraced aluminium for its suitability for precision machining, with
engineered components that celebrate the quality and beauty of the material. The aluminium is 100%-recycled aluminium alloy
meticulously machined from solid billets using advanced 3- or 5-axis CNC technology, then subjected to a state-of-the-
art anodisation process. This treatment creates an ultra-thin, hexagonal cell microstructure on the surface, ensuring exceptional resistance,
hardness, and a refined micro-texture. The result is a finish with a deep, enduring colour that remains vibrant over time. Glass is precision-
milled Corning® Gorilla5® Glass, which is durable, scratch resistant and has high visibility.
Ultimately, the design of the Ferrari Luce’s interior is a synthesis of meticulous craftsmanship, respect for tradition, and thoughtful
innovation. It offers a new choice for Ferrari enthusiasts – one that honours the past while embracing the future, and exemplifies the
brand’s enduring commitment to quality, performance, and cultural significance.

For the occasion, BamBam wore a Louis Vuitton ensemble consisting of a dark brown, double-breasted jacket, brown trousers, a white shirt and black derbies.
At the Australian Open 2026, top sporting performance was once again accompanied by timeless craftsmanship this year. Louis Vuitton presents the iconic trophies of the women's and men's finals, continuing a tradition in which victory and style are inextricably linked.

Melbourne, 31 January 2026 – As part of the women's final of the 2026 Australian Open, Thai singer and rapper and House Ambassador BamBam and American tennis legend Jennifer Capriati presented the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup trophy in their Louis Vuitton trophy case.

This was presented to Elena Rybakina after an intense three-set match against Aryna Sabalenka.
During her victory at the Australian Open in Melbourne, Elena Rybakina was wearing the Vanguart Orb, featuring a rose gold case paired with a white rubber strap. A timepiece defined by balance, precision, and restraint — values that naturally mirror her class, composure, and approach to the game.
“What we admire in Elena is her ability to push boundaries with calm and discipline,” says Mehmet Koruturk, Chairman and Co-Founder of Vanguart. “This type of excellence is never improvised.”

Carlos Alcaraz, Louis Vuitton ambassador, won the Australian Open in men's singles for the first time after a four-set match against Novak Djokovic. As part of the Opening Ceremony of the final, American actress and Louis Vuitton ambassador Chloë Grace Moretz, together with tennis legend Marat Safin, presented the iconic Norman Brookes Challenge Cup trophy, which was unveiled in her Louis Vuitton trophy case. For the occasion, Chloë Grace Moretz wore a black crinkled vinyl jacket with a matching skirt, white LV knot pumps, as well as Le Damier de Louis Vuitton fine jewelry earrings and a ring with yellow diamonds.
Handcrafted in the historic workshops of Asnières by Louis Vuitton's skilled artisans, the trophy case has protected and transported the trophy since the first day of this Grand Slam tournament. Embellished with the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram canvas, it is equipped with a brass lock, strips, corners and clasps, as the Maison has been using since the 1860s. The two front panels, which can be opened to reveal the trophy, are adorned with the immaculate white "V" for Victory and Vuitton. The inside of the case is lined with microfiber in the characteristic blue of the Australian Open, while the inside of the lid bears the white typography of the AO logo.

Resounding victory for Standing Rock in The 41st Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz Final

Finals’ Day is not just three matches, but a magnificent moment in the winter calendar. 26,000 spectators certainly agreed, with sellout crowds over the course of the weekend and an impressive 2,400 tonnes of infrastructure placed upon the frozen Lake St. Moritz. In exciting breaking news, J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global, has confirmed a major four-year commitment to Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz, with US Polo Assn. confirmed as the official apparel supplier until 2030.

The first match of the day saw Azerbaijan-Land of Fire and Mackage battle for fifth and sixth place. A penalty conversion for Azerbaijan-Land of Fire opened the fourth and final chukka to give them a 5-4 lead. The Subsidiary Final for the Mackage Trophy saw thrilling end-to-end action. The white-shirted ‘Boys from Brazil’ for Investec ran out the winners with a closer than close final score of 5-4½. Both finalists, Flexjet and Standing Rock, had impeccable pedigrees and the sold-out grandstands were packed for the Final. A converted penalty from Most Valuable Player Raul Laplacette swung the lead in their favour, followed by Raul scoring a further goal with less than 30 seconds left on the clock, securing the title safely in Standing Rock’s possession.

So, after nine matches, the 41st edition of this iconic tournament drew to a close in fitting style. Make a note in your diary now for the 42nd anniversary edition on 22, 23 and 24 January 2027.

Martin Öfner, Executive Chef at 3 Michelin starred Zén, Singapore

Zén, Björn Frantzén’s first international venture, is now led by Austrian Executive Chef Martin Öfner, who is transforming the finest seasonal produce through Frantzén’s signature innovative techniques.
Picture
Zén in Singapore is the sister restaurant of Chef Björn Frantzén’s three Michelin-starred Frantzén in Stockholm. Opened in November 2018, Zén was awarded two Michelin stars in 2019 and the ultimate third in 2021. This intimate 24-seater restaurant is spanning all three floors of a heritage shophouse (c1926, see image below) in the Tanjong Pagar District. Zén blends Nordic, French and Japanese cuisines via Chef Björn’s Scandinavian philosophy.

The tasting menu elevating the rich diversity of the produce from Japan and Scandinavia across nine meticulously crafted courses and canapés. Austrian Executive Chef Martin Öfner (above) leads the kitchen.

From scenic Alps to soaring seas

Öfner was born in Innsbruck and raised in the village of Stans in the Karwendel Alpine Park, Austria’s largest nature park located in the stunning region of Tyrol. Immersed in year-round tourism, processions, and festivals, he was surrounded by family and a community with a strong cultural focus on seasonality.
One of his first positions outside of Austria was in Zurich, Switzerland, at Restaurant Parkhuus, at Park Hyatt hotel. Focused on local Alpine Swiss produce and freshwater fish, the restaurant is known for their open-fire grilling and asado-style approach which has earned them one Michelin star.

Martin returned home to the Tyrol and Kirchberg, just outside Kitzbühel, and the two Michelin-starred restaurant Rosengarten under Chef Simon Taxacher. He was taken up by a residency just over the border into the Italian Tyrol, at the then two Michelin-starred St Hubertus under Chef Norbert Niederkofler in the Hotel Rosa Alpina, tucked into Italy's spectacular UNESCO-protected Dolomites. The two restaurants shared a common philosophy when it came to sourcing and preserving and one that resonated strongly with Martin. Joining as Senior Chef de Partie, by the time he left Rosengarten, he held the position of Sous Chef and then headed to Denmark, to much talked about restaurant Geranium under Chef Rasmus Kofoed that was named No1 in the World. It was 2017 and Geranium had just gained its 3rd Michelin star in 2016.
Hereafter he joins De Librije in the Netherlands under Chef Jonnie Boer (3 Michelin stars since 2004).
A chance opportunity for an internship at Frantzén under Chef Björn Frantzén took Martin to Stockholm at the end of 2018. Within two weeks, he was offered a permanent position as Chef de Partie and never looked back.

From royal Stockholm to sizzling Singapore

By 2023, he was Senior Sous Chef at Frantzén, and Björn had set his sights on China. Martin was asked if he would like to lead the team there. He travelled from province to province, absorbing everything from banqueting and Fujian seafood to Peking duck masters in Beijing. Björn offered him the opportunity to work in Singapore, in early 2024. Now in 2025, Martin is the lead Executive Chef working closely with
Björn on all things Zén.
