Yachting's flagship event puts a S into sustainability—this year, luxury not being the solo key word—as the industry adapts to more sustainable initiatives and requirements from clients and stakeholders.

Organisers invited stakeholders to exclusive events on sustainability in yachting, right from the Monaco Yacht Show Opening Conference on Wednesday, September 25th. Focusing on pioneering sustainability in yachting, with concrete actions being taken to meet environmental challenges within the industry,
Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show, opened the conference with superyacht expert and journalist Justin Ratcliffe.
presented an engaging program and distinguished speakers highlighted the importance of reducing the carbon footprint of older generation yachts (Jean-Marc Bolinger, CEO of MB92 Group); enhancing sustainability through eco-responsible onboard practices (Robert van Tol, Executive Director, Water Revolution Foundation); and how superyacht innovations benefit other markets (Giedo Loeff, Head of Research & Development, Feadship). The discussion moved on to the question of good practices on board to ensure a sustainable future for the industry.

The Honours Awards 2024, organised by The Superyacht Life Foundation and the Monaco Yacht Show jointly, is another important step towards attaining credible sustainability.
Frederic Jousset Mike Horn - Project X and Nick Entwisle - Yachting Gives Back received Bowsprit award, for inspiring change in the industry and beyond.

Yacht Club de Monaco

Under the aegis of the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, Yacht Club de Monaco—an institution in the Principality—true to its tradition, the Club organised an Owners Lunch on the opening day of the Monaco Yacht Show, an event that has become a'must-show’ and on Wednesday saw 60 owners of YCM flagged yachts gathering for lunch.

A prestigious event, the atmosphere is always friendly and exclusive, never mind the impressive statistic that accompanies it. The total linear meters of yachts reached 2,616m for 2024, underlining the Club’s predominant place in the world of international luxury yachting. They all kicked off the festivities in the sun-soaked Monaco marina.

Visitors are invited as always to experience the epitome of luxury at the Monaco Yacht Show, that offers many educative events and enables visitors to immerse in a world of unmatched grandeur and elegance. The opportunity to discover 120 extraordinary vessels, is unparalled including exclusive premieres, meticulously crafted by renowned superyacht builders.

Refined, immersive and breathtaking

I was captivated by the impeccable craftsmanship and breathtaking design showcased at the MYS that invite guests to indulge in refined amenities that redefine onboard comfort.
Beyond a showcase of yachts, the Monaco Yacht Show offers an immersive experience, this year namely to witness advancements in sustainable yachting practices and engage with industry experts and leading names in the industry to help visitors gain insights into the captivating world of yachting, now embracing sustainability, clearly eco-conscious solutions pair well with elegance and sophistication in yachting. “Let your yachting dreams set sail responsibly” is the new MYS motto.

Monaco presents the best in yachting and eco-solutions

The boldness of the Show has been repeatedly demonstrated. The festival has progressively expanded in scope and stature, returning annually to the picturesque surroundings of Port Hercule. These days, it serves as an international exhibition of the best in yachting, and this year's new releases include a 122-meter Lürssen superyacht called Kismet, which can be rented for up to €3 million a week, as well as many hybrid vessels, one of which is powered by methanol.

The Monaco Yacht Show always has an incredible lineup; this year, environmentally conscious Rossinavi unveiled the Seawolf X (image above), their first hybrid-electric catamaran, while Nautor Swan unveiled DreamCatcher, their first hybrid sailing maxi yacht. Almax, Sanlorenzo's first 50-meter vessel equipped with hydrogen fuel cells, is being launched with Siemens Energy.
Siemens is also sponsoring the show’s Sustainability Hub, which has become a breeding ground for eco-friendly concepts and new ideas to promote a greener superyacht sector.

British singer Craig David came on stage at the Omniyat party at the Yacht Club to celebrate the Dubai property developer’s latest project with the Dorchester Collection, The Alba, the rain had stopped, replaced by a seemingly endless flow of Möet & Chandon.
